Tom Ford's most recent work has been in a trio format, since last summer after experimenting with new material at Londons 91 Living room on bricklane. Since then he has toured the music around Europe, Ukraine and recently just performed in Malta. The Trio format allows for more freedom musically amongst the musicians which is what the aim is here, drawing on the rich tradition of jazz trios from Bill Evans and Ahmad Jamal to Pat Methenys first album and Bill Frisell. This allows Tom to explore the full capability of the guitar as both a solo and harmony instrument and the material he has written reflects this is in its arrangements that suit guitar trio specifically.
Tom has been playing with different line ups while developing this music but for this show he will be joined by the young bassist Stan Woodward of the band Knats who recently signed to Universals Fontana Records, and Manchester born London based drummer Oscar Ogden who performs regularly around Europe notably playing at Montreaux Jazz most years.
This music ranges from delicate and soft to dynamic and exciting, while the trio play off each other inspiring new versions of the music each time they play.
