Friday Night At Quay Arts

A single ticket gets you entry to a full night of music at the Quay Arts Centre. In the past two years, this has been a very successful evening with a full house. The audience is free to move between upstairs and downstairs gigs, with seating available. Upstairs is more formal and downstairs is less so with the possibility of dancing !

Food will be served downstairs from 6.45pm until 8.15pm.

UPSTAIRS :

Esprit Bohème brings the charm of Gypsy Jazz to life — a vocally led quartet blending Django style swing with touches of French elegance. Fronted by French vocalist Olivia Cure, the group pairs her inspired improvisation with Hugo Boswell’s intricate guitar lines, Jon Thorn’s warm, expressive double bass, and Steve Thompson’s classic rhythm guitar pulse.

DOWNSTAIRS :

Jim Kerr, Jazz DJ will start the evening and will perform regular spots throughout the night.

Gary Plumley (saxes and flute) with the Jim Thorn Latin Quartet. Gary Plumley lives locally but is a world class saxophonist, with a vast musical background including regular appearances with Sax Appeal, the Alleycats and other groups at the IW Jazz Weekend. We are very pleased that he can appear this year during a break from his extensive travelling! Joining him in a night of latin jazz, are Loren Thorn (vocals), Jim Thorn (piano), Tom Ford (bass) and Ken Black (percussion).

A jam session will take place after the gigs.
