Sol Grimshaw grew up on the Isle of Wight but has spent the last 4 years in London studying at the Guildhall School of Music. Since being in London Sol has established himself in many of the London scenes most especially the Gypsy Jazz and Early jazz scene. He has performed at many of the great jazz venues in London including Ronnie Scot’s, 606 Club, The Vortex, Pizza Express Soho, Savoy Hotel and Milton Court.

The Blue Orchids ensemble brings together some of the top young jazz musicians on the London scene

This group draws inspiration from the original drummer-less piano trios (Piano, Bass, Guitar) from the 40s and 50s. The group was formed by Sol and Cody who wanted to create a platform which would showcase their love for the music of such artists as the Nat King Cole trio, Ahmad Jamal trio and the Oscar Peterson trio, recreating the authentic sounds of this iconic jazz format.

The group look forward to coming to the Isle of Wight to perform a brand new set of arrangements, putting their own take into this classic swinging jazz sound.
