Bass player Simon Thorpe’s band Jivin’ Miss Daisy, now in their twentieth year, started out playing for swing dance nights at venues like London’s 100 Club where they quickly became established as one of the finest bands around. Since that time they have become regulars at Ronnie Scott’s and have been playing at prestigious events such as the UK launch of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, and appearing in BBC1’s The Village.
They’ll be playing music from their new CD, 'Whoop-De-Doo Songs’ and lots of other jazz and swing favourites from Duke Ellington, George & Ira Gershwin and Cole Porter. Featuring an all-star six-piece line-up of Liz Fletcher, vocals; Alex Garnett, sax and vocals; Simon Finch, trumpet; John Pearce, piano; Simon Thorpe, bass and Matt Skelton, drums.
